As a generalisation, Victorians have a more entrenched traditional hunting culture than NSW. It has been possible to hunt on public land in Victoria for many years. Shooting feral animals using artificial lighting to protect financial losses in agriculture has typically been the most popular method of hunting in NSW. Victorians still maintain a scientifically managed annual duck hunt in contrast to NSW where traditional duck hunting is banned.
