Welcome to the official website for the Game Management Council of NSW Inc.
On this site, you will find information and viewpoints that are seldom represented in legacy media. Hunting has been unchallenged as an integral cultural keystone throughout human history. Only in recent times has subsistence hunting ceased being a necessity for sustaining human society. Recreational hunting has become the norm. Australia is extremely urbanised with over 80% of its population living in three major cities, which has resulted in few people experiencing first-hand interactions with nature. Australian hunters, just as hunters the world over, are no longer regarded as cultural heroes. Instead, these people are targeted by suspicion and are subjected to scrutiny, criticism and even vilification – socially, politically and legally.
We believe that sport hunting is highly relevant in modern Australia and emphatically assert our cultural right, within the contemporary cultural context, to practice and promulgate the sacred art of hunting.
